Maintenance America was contracted to construct a new press pit for an 7,200 ton aluminum extrusion press. The project consisted of demolition and removal of existing press pit, shoring of crane footers for excavation, installation of new 6,000 amp 480/277 electrical service, construction of off line stretcher foundation, excavation and construction of new press pit, additional preheat and run-out area work associated with project, and grouting of machinery after installation. All work was completed without disruption to ongoing production activities of two other extrusion press lines in the same bay. Construction consisted of over 50,000 foot of rebar, 800 feet of structural I beam, 75 various sole plates cast into foundation and 1,000 yards of concrete.
